Summary

'A fascinating tour around the world of hidden signals and communication by Sweden's foremost mentalist。 Use this wisely!' - Derren Brown

Learning to mind read isn't as out there as it may sound。 In every interaction we have, we give away a range of non-verbal signals, often more powerful than the words we say。

The Art of Reading Minds teaches you how to influence others, bringing them round to your way of thinking。 Rooted in cognitive psychology, Henrik Fexeus explains how readers can find out what another person feels - and consequently control that individual's thoughts and beliefs。

Short, snappy chapters cover subjects like:
Contradictory signs and what they mean
How you flirt with people without even knowing it
Methods of suggestion and undetectable influence
How to plant and trigger emotional states

Fexeus offers practical tips to master the art of persuasion, which will boost your confidence both in personal and professional settings。 Simple exercises throughout the book will heighten your self-awareness, revealing how you are perceived by others。 Whether you want to get a promotion, negotiate a pay rise, network like a pro, find romance or spot when someone is lying, The Art of Reading Minds shows you how to uncover what people are really saying。

'If you ever wanted to know how a mentalist can tell what is in your mind, then this is the book for you。' - Joe Navarro, author of the international bestseller What Every Body is Saying

this is the book i’ve been looking for for so long: how to socialise。 :)

Interesting stuff I kind of already knew, but on an intuitive level。 This is a good stuff to know。

A practical book and fun to read。 However, we know already so much in social interactions。

This book is about human behavior and psychology。 Learning to observe the unconscious signs other people display: (flirtation, fear, excitement, etc), Identifying the emotional states of others and influencing the mental processes of others causing a change of mood is the main subject of the book。 Once you become aware of what others are feeling or thinking based on their ticks, scientific evidence & keen analyzation, you can "read their mind"。 Well。。。not really reading minds but to others who a This book is about human behavior and psychology。 Learning to observe the unconscious signs other people display: (flirtation, fear, excitement, etc), Identifying the emotional states of others and influencing the mental processes of others causing a change of mood is the main subject of the book。 Once you become aware of what others are feeling or thinking based on their ticks, scientific evidence & keen analyzation, you can "read their mind"。 Well。。。not really reading minds but to others who aren't aware of their own "tells", it will seem like magic! Now all of this information could totally be used for evil in the hands of the wrong person: manipulation。 Because just as we can observe others, it's actually quite easy to influence other's behavior as well。 (yes! Strong assertions here! Read the book!) The title of the book really does capture exactly what the book is about!I enjoyed this so much! The bits about understanding how our bodies work and display in times of stress, fear, excitement, aroused, etc。 was fascinating! I found the bits about establishing rapport with someone very helpful! (Rapport is something that would be beneficial with a boss or family member - someone to whom their presence is a fact of life or a threat。)As per usual with these nonfiction, scientific, psychological books, the information gets really granular and tedious, but it's a necessary thing to understand the concepts。 。。。more

Had a couple interesting factoids but lacked a good step by step approach that a reader could easily follow and see the results first hand。 I attempted a few to look for some of the body, in particular the eye movement, that was mentioned in the book but was dissatisfied with the feedback。

This book is very informative and teaches it about body language。 If you’re looking for a book that helps you how to act in the professional world, this would be a great refresher!

This book is all about letting the readers know about communication without uttering a word。 It happens to all of us at one point in our lives or the other when we say unconsciously how someone dear to us can do anything wrong to us。 How can he or she hate me? how can he or she deceive me? etc。It also teaches how to behave others we meet the first time or all of a sudden on a roadside or at a park。 The way we communicate with others determines our future relationship with others。 So understandin This book is all about letting the readers know about communication without uttering a word。 It happens to all of us at one point in our lives or the other when we say unconsciously how someone dear to us can do anything wrong to us。 How can he or she hate me? how can he or she deceive me? etc。It also teaches how to behave others we meet the first time or all of a sudden on a roadside or at a park。 The way we communicate with others determines our future relationship with others。 So understanding others' gestures or even complete silence is very important for making the relationship strong。 Techniques discussed in this book regarding body language and mind reading can help a lot in this regard, however, these techniques aren't applicable to all and sundry。 understanding the psyche of others is very crucial before the application of these techniques。 。。。more

I discovered this book towards the end of a first date。 My date suggested that we walk over to a bookstore after a Sunday afternoon brunch。 As we entered the BMV Bookstore I felt like this date had just taken a turn for the better。 I was surprised that he led us toward the smaller, independently owned bookstore just across the street from the larger, more well-known chain bookstore。 The Art of Reading Minds: How to Understand and Influence Others Without Them Noticing by Henrik Fexeus was placed I discovered this book towards the end of a first date。 My date suggested that we walk over to a bookstore after a Sunday afternoon brunch。 As we entered the BMV Bookstore I felt like this date had just taken a turn for the better。 I was surprised that he led us toward the smaller, independently owned bookstore just across the street from the larger, more well-known chain bookstore。 The Art of Reading Minds: How to Understand and Influence Others Without Them Noticing by Henrik Fexeus was placed conspicuously near the entrance on a large table and it immediately stood out to me。 The title and cover piqued my interest and I thought that it would prove to be useful as I had just recently begun my online dating journey。 Reading the minds of these matches would absolutely be a help to me。(view spoiler)[Henrik Fexeus clearly notes early in the book that his book does not teach how to telepathically read minds。 The book however gives the tools to identify behaviour patterns and recognize physiological cues to better understand what someone might be feeling or thinking in response to a particular situation。 Don’t be disappointed if you were hoping that it would help you get into the thoughts of others。 While this book doesn’t teach that, it is very detailed and instructional in helping to understand someone’s eye movement complete with black and white photos, what anchors are and how to plant them to our advantage。I would recommend this for people along with titles like Dale Carnegie’s How to Win Friends and Influence People and Stephen R。 Covey’s The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People: Powerful Lessons in Personal Change which would also further help readers learn about how to best communicate and get what they want out of their relationships and interactions。 I will personally use some of the techniques from this book to see how they will affect my interactions with people at home, at work and in other spaces。I also found it fitting that I finished reading this book the same way I discovered it, that is over brunch。 (hide spoiler)]Read the full review at RavensReads。com 。。。more

Good examples of watching and matching body “tone” of the other person to build report。

If you are looking for “mind reading” this is not the book for you。 If you are looking for a deeper understanding of nonverbal communication this is the book for you。 It reminds me of my nonverbal communication college class from 20 years ago。 No real new ideas present but it is a nice review of different things to notice during communication。 I recommend this for anyone looking to improve their communication style。

To start with, this isn't one of those books you get out of a new age coffee shop bookstore that stinks of patchouli, tarot cards, and pendulums。 It actually is a book on practical skills, similar to neurolinguistic programming or NLP。 If this topic is new to you, and you're not looking for some hippie magic, it would be a good place to start。 To start with, this isn't one of those books you get out of a new age coffee shop bookstore that stinks of patchouli, tarot cards, and pendulums。 It actually is a book on practical skills, similar to neurolinguistic programming or NLP。 If this topic is new to you, and you're not looking for some hippie magic, it would be a good place to start。 。。。more

Short, to the point, quirky, very insightful。 Recommended。

Enjoyed mostly the second half, but that might be due to me reading similar books where the first half of the book felt repetitive and dragging。 The last few exercises intrigue me, interested in trying them out!

This is the first book by Henrik Fexeus that I read and I give it 7/10。 I do not have much knowledge about this author or about Swedish literature, however, I can compare this book with other similar works of self-help and practical psychology that I have read in recent years。Strong points: - the book is written in an easy style, accessible to the general public- the author offers numerous practical elements that can be applied immediately by the reader, in everyday life- a big advantage is the This is the first book by Henrik Fexeus that I read and I give it 7/10。 I do not have much knowledge about this author or about Swedish literature, however, I can compare this book with other similar works of self-help and practical psychology that I have read in recent years。Strong points: - the book is written in an easy style, accessible to the general public- the author offers numerous practical elements that can be applied immediately by the reader, in everyday life- a big advantage is the absence of the "stories" found in other self-help books about spectacular ascents of some people who were initially hopeless, becoming in an unreal, short time very successful people, billionaires (we know these stories are not 100% true, but all lies)- some of the chapters offer new information (for me at least) that cannot be found in other books (for example, reading emotions based on face mimicry)- although short, the bibliography contains essential works to the field of practical psychology, so this book has a solid theoretical basisWeak points:- the main reason why I do not give more stars to this book is that the title misleads the reader。 As the author states both at the beginning and at the end, the "reading of minds" that we, readers expect, is not presented in this book。 The author himself acknowledges that the work mainly deals with elements (quite superficial though) about the interpretation of emotions through changes in the face and body (body language)。 Of course, this is a very successful marketing technique that seems to be successful (at least for me, it caused me to read the book)。- I would have preferred the author to insist on certain parts and I consider that there could be several more practical examples。Conclusion:The book is an easy, fun, accessible reading for a wide audience regardless of age or professional training。 It includes practical elements useful for everyday life。 But there remains an important difference between this book and other works in the field of self-help, such as Dale Carnegie's books。 I recommend reading it in pdf format since it is not one of the essential books of practical psychology to occupy an important place in your personal library。 。。。more

3。5It was ok, but for me it felt like something was missing。 The author repeats on multiple occasions that some of the theories mentioned in this book have been proven false, however he still keeps using them as examples and baseline for his book。 It’s great that he is truthful by informing the reader of this, but it leaves the book as a giant “I don’t really know if this is true, do what you’re want with it “。 Which isn’t my cup of tea。

very good, probably need to read again, some great ideas toward the end there。

Thank you to NetGalley and St。 Martin's Press for the free ARC in exchange for an honest review。 The author gives us an introductory understanding on nonverbal communication, how to better understand it and ways to become a better communicator。 Some people might see his ideas as manipulative, but I think that he is just showing us how to be more aware of reading people and their cues。 Includes a lot of examples。 Thank you to NetGalley and St。 Martin's Press for the free ARC in exchange for an honest review。 The author gives us an introductory understanding on nonverbal communication, how to better understand it and ways to become a better communicator。 Some people might see his ideas as manipulative, but I think that he is just showing us how to be more aware of reading people and their cues。 Includes a lot of examples。 。。。more

I wish I could read minds! This book doesn’t tell you how to read Minds, but it talks about how to “read” body language and facial expressions。If you want to learn how to notice these changes within yourself and others, this is a good beginners guide。I received this ebook copy in exchange for an honest review from NetGalley and the publisher。

Interesting read。 Not as helpful as I would have liked。 Not very reliable, failsafe methods。

Tips and tricks to make better observations。。。 and reading people。。。 not necessarily their minds。 Fun - just because。

Ralph Bankston

Interesting topic。 The book is well laid out and fills in a lot of natural gaps around things you may have noticed on your own。

Is someone flirting with you? Are YOU unconsciously flirting with someone? Is that person remembering, or creating a new story? Learn more than just how to read minds。。。read body language, facial ques, and so much more。

I listened to the audio version of this which is always a different experience than reading。 To really get the most out of this you would have to really dedicate time and effort, but as the author said, this book covers a lot of what we already know but rarely pay attention to or put into practice。 This is more about how to read and better relate to people then teaching magic tricks on how to manipulate people (darn!)。 It's also insightful for self awareness and how you present yourself to other I listened to the audio version of this which is always a different experience than reading。 To really get the most out of this you would have to really dedicate time and effort, but as the author said, this book covers a lot of what we already know but rarely pay attention to or put into practice。 This is more about how to read and better relate to people then teaching magic tricks on how to manipulate people (darn!)。 It's also insightful for self awareness and how you present yourself to others。 Don't worry friends, I cant read your mind any better than I could before listening to this。 。。。more

Yeah, I don’t know what I was expecting。 Most of the advice or suggestions in this book felt really creepy and manipulative。 I’d probably give this 2。5 stars, but I can’t。 It seems to operate under the assumption that people aren’t capable of critical thinking or self reflection。 And that everyone is just so unaware of their surroundings or their own behavior that they wander around like bumbling idiots vulnerable to anyone that may come along。 Heck, maybe we are! It just felt creepy。
